Duties and Responsibilities of the County Judge
The Texas Constitution vests broad judicial and administrative powers in the position of county judge, who presides over a five-member commissioner’s court, which has budgetary and administrative authority over county government operations. The county judge handles such widely varying matters as:
· Hearings for beer and wine license applications
· Calling elections
· Posting election notices
· Receiving and canvassing election returns
· Performing marriages
· Head of civil defense, disaster relief.
My goal with this website is to give you access to and information about your county government. You are a big part of that process, and I encourage your input - in writing or by e-mail. And please feel free to visit our office and the newly remodeled County Courthouse complex to see your tax dollars at work.
