Running for a Local Office

If you are interested in running for a local County office, please visit the Texas Secretary of State’s Website and search for the most current “Candidate’s Guide” to determine qualifications and fees for running for different offices, to find forms to file to run for office, and to review deadlines to file to run for office.

If you are interested in running as a Democratic, Green, Libertarian, or Republican candidate, you will need to file to run for office with those local parties and provide them with whatever information they require. You do not file to run for any office with the Nacogdoches County Elections Office.

If you are interested in filing to run for a seat on the Nacogdoches Hospital District Board of Directors, please search for their website or contact Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital.

If you are interested in filing to run for a City Council position, you need to contact the City Office that is applicable to you or search for their websites. The Cities of Appleby, Chireno, Cushing, Garrison, and Nacogdoches have their City Council elections in May.
